WORK EXPERIENCE
Radio Presenter and Head of Sport at FLY FM, NTU Radio Station 2011 ongoing
Lead Sport Presenter, host of the Saturday Sports Show (the station's most listened to show) and a daytime music/chat programme. Fully competent skills on a radio desk as well as MA Playlist programming and Adobes Audition and Premier. I have carried out many interviews for the station as well as producing my own travel/comedy documentary. In my time at Fly I have also done promotions work, attending many events where my role has been to outline the role the station plays within the University framework to potential future presenters or sponsors.
Online
Reporter for Stamford Football Club 2012
Do weekly phone interviews with Chairman, Manager, Players and
Fans with them then being posted on the club's website and being published in
the programme. Have interviewed current football league players during my time
at the club.
Volunteer Games Maker – Press Operations Summer 2012
My main duty involved interviewing the
athletes after they had competed, then editing and downloading their quotes
onto the accessible Olympic news website for international News corporations to
use. It was an extremely busy, fast-paced
environment, and I had to think on my feet and respond quickly to changing
situations. I was involved in three sport disciplines:
Gymnastics, Football and Rowing. Of the back of the Olympics I have been
offered a role at the Rowing World Cup and have secured an interview later this
year for a position at the Rugby League World Cup.
Real
Radio North East Summer 2010, 2011 and 2012
Placements at Real Radio Northeast for
three consecutive years, during which the duties and responsibilities I was
given surpassed all expectations. I spent every minute learning all the skills
used in broadcast journalism: working on my own and as part of a team;
researching for stories; interviewing; editing; script writing; while at the
same time, becoming familiar with media jargon such as vox pop and in-cue, and
getting experience in using flashmics, Burli software, and digital
video/photographic cameras. In July 2010, I was part of the news reporting team
during the man hunt for gunman Raoul Moat, out on location, working alongside
national news reporters for the BBC, ITN, Sky TV, and radio. I experienced
going out on my own to do interviews, take photographs, do video clips, and
attended football pre-match press conferences. I learned quickly, being
commended by the reporters I worked
alongside, for the hard work, confidence, and enthusiasm I had shown in all I was
asked to do.
Ragley Hall,
Warwickshire
August 2011
This is a large country estate
open to the public and staging several large events throughout the year such as
Weddings,
Corporate Functions and Outdoor Events like music concerts,
and Country Fairs. I worked alongside the PR and Media team familiarising
myself with the necessary marketing requirements which are important for the
successful day to day management and ensuring financial security for the future
maintenance of the Estate. I was asked to review past, current and future
literature, the Estate website and social network links. I carried out a
customer research project doing face to face interviews with the public and
phone interviews with corporate clients then summarising my findings in a
written report.
The
Bell Inn, Alderminster, Warwickshire 2009 ongoing
My
main roles include food preparation, and clearing dishes in the Kitchen. I work
in a team but take responsibility for my own area of work. I have to be
efficient, organised and able to prioritise tasks to ensure meals go out on
time.
