About Me

I'm Rob Lilley a 20 year old Broadcast Journalism student entering my final year at Nottingham Trent University.
From an early age I've always known I wanted to work in the media, but could never pinpoint an area of interest until becoming involved in our student radio station Fly FM. Beginning a newsreader I've grown to become a presenter in my own right, recently taking on the role of Head of Sport at the station. The great thing is that it's impossible to see Fly as work, it's a joy to do, and the end product is often fantastic.

I first got into sport as a nine year old watching the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan/South Korea, and from that moment on was keen to learn more. I'm a guy who cant just be a fan of something, I have to know every little thing to do with it. Don't get me wrong this has led to my head being full of a lot of useless information, but I'd like to think there's some good stuff in there too!

Aside from football (I'm a huge Newcastle United fan) I love all sports, with a particular interest in F1, Tennis, Golf and anything to do with the Olympics.

I was lucky enough to work at as a reporter at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games covering both the Football tournament as well as the Rowing at Eton Dorney. I doubt that summer will ever be beaten. Describing it as incredible doesn't even cover it.

So that brings you up to date. I've just finished covering the Rowing World Cup for Rowing's governing body FISA and will be working at the Rugby League World Cup in the Autumn. Excitingly there's also a chance I'll be heading out to Russia for the Winter Olympics too, so watch this space!
I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
